An exciting new year has started for the HOPS4COPS team. During a December visit to the Rutherford Co. Sheriff's Department, eight teams focused on helping our local deputies. Out of the visitation the organization was able to help 37 deputies to either refinance their homes, qualify to buy new homes or list homes for sale in the upcoming market swing. The positive approach from all Team Players played a large role in assisting all the customers we were able to help. Rave reviews came from the Human Resource Dept. Mgr. Regina Nelson, as well as Sheriff Truman Jones that this was a positive influence throughout the department. The Human Resources department is now adding the HOPS4COPS program into new hire packets as an additional benefit to join the force.
In February, 2009, Paige Mayercik will be visiting the Murfreesboro City Police Department to speak with Sgt. Melvin Cunningham about the same type of program to facilitate assistance to new hires as well as existing officers.
Also in February, Team Leaders have been challenged to contact local Fire Department Captains to visit the fire halls in the City of Murfreesboro and volunteer fire departments in Rutherford County, Tennessee.
There is discussion of expanding the program into surrounding counties as it has become a popular "Catch Phrase" on the tip of everybody's tongue.

The unsung heroes – Police, Firefighters, EMS, Teachers, Military Personnel and Veterans – these are public servants who continually give of themselves for the betterment of others. When Paige Mayercik of Realty Title and Escrow Company, Inc. and wife to a local police officer began to consider how she and other professionals in the community could give back to those who give so much, the idea of Homes For Our Public Servants (HOPS4COPS) was born.
With the concern of the rise and fall of the residential housing market, many first time homebuyers are skeptical. This is the time to make the opportunity to educate buyers of ways to make their lives better by purchasing a home instead of leasing a residence. Paige states, “My life has been influenced by 911 and the unsung heroes of our community today. As the wife of a police officer you experience some things first hand by seeing the danger that they face on a daily basis. This empowered my desire to research other fields of public service like Firefighters, Teachers and EMT’s, Military Personnel and Veterans that often go unrecognized for their valiant efforts. Hence, my dream of the HOPS4COPS program became a reality.”
